Setup and routing guide

Install

  1. Open BrowserRelay.dmg after extraction.
  2. Drag BrowserRelay.app into Applications.
  3. Open the app and approve the macOS security prompt if needed.
  4. BrowserRelay will run as a menu bar app near the top-right of your screen.

Set as default browser

  1. Open the BrowserRelay menu bar icon.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Click Set as Default Browser.
  4. Or choose BrowserRelay manually in macOS default browser settings.

Core rule types

  • Contains for matching URLs that include target text
  • Domain for exact host matching
  • Starts With for full URL prefix routing
  • Regex for more advanced patterns

Good default setup

  • Choose your everyday browser as the fallback
  • Add a rule for work domains
  • Add a rule for meeting links
  • Add app-based rules for Slack or Teams if needed
